A pioneering ‘pretzel’ shaped surgical instrument, designed and manufactured by Surgical Innovations, has been used to carry out ‘keyhole’ surgery on an Asian Golden Cat at Edinburgh Zoo.

 

Leading vet Romain Pizzi used groundbreaking minimal invasive techniques just days before Christmas, to carry out a liver and kidney biopsy and assess whether the cat (”Ipoh”) has possible polycystic disease.

Graham Bowland, Chief Executive Officer at Surgical Innovations (SI), was on the Today Programme on BBC Radio 4 on the morning of 29th November.

The presenter Evan Davis from BBC Two programme Dragons' Den came to SI’s head office yesterday to do the interview on local manufacturing  and have a tour of the facility. He was really impressed  with what he saw.
