Surgical Innovations (SI) is pleased to announce the first member of our International Advisory Group – Dr Bassem Safadi – Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. Dr. Safadi’s appointment allows SI increased clinical support in the Middle East.
The International Advisory Group will be expanded over the coming months to include key surgeon opinion leaders from all around the world, exposing SI to different market needs.
The group will function in a similar way to SI’s existing UK Clinical Advisory Board with the members assisting product design with the development and testing of products.
Dr. Safadi is one of the leaders in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery in Lebanon and the Middle East. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. Prior to his return to Lebanon in 2005 Dr Safadi was the Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at Stanford University. He completed his surgical training from 1992 until 1999 at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC , Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr Safadi said upon his appointment to the International Advisory Group, “I am delighted to be the first member of SI’s International Advisory Group. It gives me a great opportunity to feedback to the design team about my ideas for potential future products while also allowing me to try out the newest innovations in the operating room.”
Dr Safadi added, “I look forward to what I am certain will be a long and fruitful relationship with Surgical Innovations.”
